An essential part of skincare regimen people often forget
Have you ever wondered "Why men’s skin looks more young than a woman of same age?" I am sure you have. Beauticians have agreed to this fact as it has a scientific reason! Men, perhaps unknowingly, exfoliate everyday when they shave.
Yes, Exfoliation is neglected by women even by those who follow a regular facial skin care schedule.
What is Exfoliation?
Dead skin cells tend to deposit on the outer layer of skin. This not only changes the natural skin complexion, but blocks pores and makes skin look dull.
Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the outer layer of your skin.
How to Exfoliate?
There are two basic methods: Mechanical and Chemical .
Mechanical method involves scrubbing your skin with any abrasive substance. You should be careful while choosing scrub cleaners for your face. Scrubs with medium grains should be used; bigger grains can damage your skin.
Pumice is often suggested as a good scrub to exfoliate the skin or your feet, but the same product may not be good for your face or hand. Consult a dermatologist or visit online cologne shops to get a good scrub product for your skin type.
Chemical method is helpful for people suffering from acne. In chemical exfoliation the substance applied on the skin loosens the tie with dead skin cells and let it go away with a simple wash. Different types of gels and lotions are available in stores.
As per some recent studies Retenoids, a derivative of Vitamin A, not only exfoliates, but generates collagen and helps to keep skin in better condition.
How frequently exfoliation should be done?
It depends on your skin type. Chemical exfoliation with mild gels can be done everyday after washing your face; whereas, scrubbing can be performed once in a fortnight. Consulting a dermatologist or skin specialist is always good.
